about lynn lynn chambers and her dolls

I am an antique doll restoration artist, located in Ottawa, Ontario (Canada). I have been professionally restoring and conserving all types of dolls (bisque, composition, paper mache, wax, wood etc.), paper mache toys, and many other unusual antique items, for approximately 18 years. My clients include collectors, antique dealers, museums, insurance companies, and families who have inherited cherished heirlooms.

In 1999-2000 I worked on a major doll exhibit for the Canadian Museum of Civilization, (Timeless Treasures - the History of Dolls in Canada). I have conducted many Identification Clinics and Seminars for Doll Shows, Charities, and Museums, including the Canadian Museum of Civilization.

My clients, who are from all across Canada, as well as the US and France, know me as a reputable, ethical and knowledgeable restoration artist.

When conserving or restoring a doll, my goal is not to make it look new, but to have it look its appropriate age, having survived well. I feel it is our duty to protect these precious artifacts so that future generations can also enjoy them.

testimonials and references of lynn chambers

Lynn is a talented artist who seems to know the exact touches each doll needs to make her look her best. She has infinite time and patience as she creates these miracles of restoration . She took my doll from eleven separate pieces to a masterpiece, all the while informing me about the origin and type of doll she is.

I highly recommend her work.

I have relied on Lynn to repair, stabilize, clean and restore dolls for more than 20 years. Her work is superlative. Her judgment about what to do (and what not to do!) is excellent. She has a true feel for what is right. She is so skilled that at times she has had to leave evidence of a repair, for example, under the wig, for ethical reasons.

The first thing I do upon acquiring a "find" is take it to Lynn for inspection and assessment. She then does whatever is best for the doll. Over the years I have brought her bisques, chinas, paper mache's, wax and wax-overs, a Queen Anne, Grodnertals and tuck combs. I have total confidence in her ability to assess what can and should be done.
